On 21 August 2026, Vitawani Shipbuilding Sdn. Bhd. hosted the 2026 VITAWANI Smart Shipyard Open Day, bringing together shipbuilding professionals and technology partners for a practical exchange on shipyard process improvement, welding technology and smart manufacturing solutions.
Organised in collaboration with CAS Cogniser and Guigu Marine Limited, the event provided an opportunity to explore how modern equipment, automation and improved production planning can be applied to enhance efficiency, consistency and quality within the shipbuilding industry.
Unlike a conventional seminar, the programme focused on real shipyard applications and on-site demonstrations.

The sessions allowed participants to see how equipment layout, workstation planning and automation can work together to improve the overall shipbuilding process.
One of the main highlights was the demonstration and discussion of automated welding solutions.
Automated welding technology has the potential to improve welding consistency, productivity and repeatability, particularly when incorporated into a properly planned production line.
During the session, participants exchanged views on equipment configuration, welding parameters, workpiece positioning, production flow and how automation may be progressively introduced into practical shipyard operations.
The event also featured demonstrations related to submerged arc welding, giving participants a closer look at equipment setup and its application within ship fabrication work.
